As a longtime Beatles fan, I'm quite excited. LEGO Ideas has announced the release of set 21306, Yellow Submarine! It's an over-550-piece model of the Yellow Sub itself, including four minifigures of the Beatles!

For more info, check out the official press release!
I'd like to use this post to address you, the readers, and tell you exactly how I see the future of this blog as it stands.

As many of you know, BIONICLE has been canceled for the second time, an action I foresaw LEGO taking. The only extant CCBS sets are the Star Wars: Rogue One Ultrabuilds, which are a far cry from the level of inspiration we saw in 2011 with the release of Ordeal of Fire.

As two college students, we at StoneHart LEGO have had little time to create or post new MOCs, and the second generation of BIONICLE provided little inspiration. In our spare time, we have created some new characters, but otherwise nothing new has emerged from our imaginations.

As mentioned before, we at StoneHart are college students with busy schedules which lend little to no time to devote to LEGO creations, let alone to post on this blog. This explains why you've seen no activity for nearly a year. With this in mind, I expect the activity level you've seen in recent years (yes, years) to remain largely the same: little to no posting.

That aside, I expect that we will eventually create some more characters and storylines that we've been willing to post. Whenever that happens, you'll be seeing it here at StoneHart LEGO.
Many new, interesting pieces, too many to name, in fact! The gold/transparent marbled masks are also definitely welcome!
Do these seem real to you?

70791 Skull Warrior
70792 Skull Slicer
70793 Skull Basher
70794 Skull Scorpio
70795 Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder

Hmmm....
AND there will also be a Bionicle polybag released this spring, but its contents are currently unknown.

And finally, the winter wave of Bionicle sets are starting to pop up before the "street date" of January 1st. I will probably go hunting for some sets at some point in the future, and if I find 'em, I'll review 'em! I've promised it before and never committed, so I think I'll actually try out reviewing!

In this video, a small portion of the backstory is given, with a few changes, namely:

Yes, I know he doesn't have an Avohkii on, but I worked with what I could. Lewa's new mask looks nothing like the 2001 Miru, now does it?

He carries two light polearms and has a gearbox function on his back that is different from the one I used on my Tahu mock-up.
It's unknown whether or not the elements of Plasma or Light will exist in the Bionicle canon starting in 2015, but these were just two quick storyline expansions.XTNhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05876214023089660442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7310000588289038193.post-77258451562525802432014-09-20T16:52:00.002-07:002014-09-20T16:53:17.302-07:00LEGO Bionicle MOC: Tahu, Master of Fire (preliminary photo edition)IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
This MOC was put together in no more than five minutes in LDD and is a "best effort" representation of the figure based on the August 2014 preliminary photo leaks.

THE TOA

All six original Toa Mata return with CCBS parts instead of "Bionicle" parts.

Gold and silver are incorporated into every color scheme.

All six Toa come with "skull spiders" that use Savage Planet claws that clip on to a skull-shaped Arachnix-like frame. In addition, a gold version of each mask is included.

New armor add-ons and weapons are confirmed that seem to bring a "Bionicle" touch to what we call "Hero Factory" parts.

70784 Lewa, Master of Jungle looks pretty cool, to be honest. He is a bulkier, more athletic take on the 2001 Lewa, although there are some changes. His color scheme consists of "Mata Green"/Dark Green, gold, and silver. He retains his axes, although there are two and they look much more futuristic, using a piece that several sets have in common with him. Oh, and his mask has changed drastically.

70785 Pohatu, Master of Stone is probably my favorite of the six Toa, although Lewa was my favorite when I started collecting Bionicle. His mask looks like a combination of Breakout Evo and Photok's masks, and he uses burnt orange, trans-yellow, and silver. And interestingly enough, he's gotten over kicking stones, opting for a pair of boomerangs instead.

70786 Gali, Master of Water is pretty... interesting. She has a mask reminiscent of the movie version of the Kaukau Nuva, and her color scheme is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Azure, yellow, silver, and gunmetal make up her color scheme. And let's not get started on that weapon. Some sort of axe with a large trident on the other side.

70787 Tahu, Master of Fire is a perfect cross between 2001 Tahu, Stars Tahu, and Furno XL. He carries two swords from the HF Brain Attack sets in gold, and for the first time is being released with his lavaboard. A magnificent version of Tahu.

70788 Kopaka, Master of Ice is not what I expected Kopaka to be. They have pretty much crossed Kopaka with Stormer XL. He is white, gold, and trans light blue, and he uses the same pieces used to make Tahu's lavaboard to make his shield. The back of his legs are armored somewhat sufficiently, and we have the piece used for Guurahk's staff in 2003 as the tip of Kopaka's staff.

70789 Onua, Master of Earth is SO WEIRD. His color scheme consists of black, gold, and PURPLE. Much bulkier than his original form, and instead of claws, he wields a giant hammer.

THE PROTECTORS

The Protectors share color schemes with their respective Toa.

All seem to be built off a skeleton similar to that of 44023 Rocka Crawler.

Each set includes a Skull Spider.

All of the Protectors have the same mask (which resembles Jaller's Kanohi Arthron) in different colors.

70778 Protector of Jungle is probably my favorite of the six. He is Dark Green, yellow, and silver, and carries a weapon that is a cross between a gatling gun and a crossbow. Oh, and the gatling gun rotates.

70779 Protector of Stone is very similar to the other Defenders, with Pohatu's color scheme instead. His weapon has the same gatling gun base, but integrated into a staff.

70780 Protector of Water is pretty cool, with a large gatling gun/harpoon combo and a pair of shoulder-mounted turbines.

70781 Protector of Earth is very purple, with elements of what appear to be TRANS-PURPLE BONES and a TRANS-PURPLE MORNING STAR!!! Excitement aside, his gatling gun is mounted on his chest, strangely enough.

70782 Protector of Ice has a large trans-light blue buzzsaw in his right hand and a very strange gatling gun with bayonet in his left.

70783 Protector of Fire is slightly larger than the other five, with very odd spinning fire blades and a shoulder-mounted gatling gun.

AND, finally...

70790 Lord of Skull Spiders/Skull Krata is one odd Bionicle. He's very Technic-oriented, and his face is complex, using a Super Heroes breastplate (with four spider eyes printed on) as a face. Not what I was expecting for the "Lord of Skull Spiders."

That's it for the 2015 Bionicles, and keep in mind that I cannot and will not publish any links to any copies of the illegal, stolen photos as they are illegal and stolen and LEGO will rightfully take legal action.

My thoughts exactly. In early July, a picture was illegally leaked online that helped fuel growing rumors that LEGO's popular Bionicle theme will be making a return next year. There are even possible set names and numbers to burn more coal on the hype train. But as we know, rumors are just rumors until confirmed or busted. Thank Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman for that one. Read on for my thoughts.

EDIT August 19, 2014: Bionicle has been confirmed by Lego for release: www.fb.com/LEGOBionicle
IF Bionicle makes a return next year (which IMO I think it will), it seems nice. But it doesn't depend on if it does, it depends on the execution (i.e. HOW it returns). They could take hints from Hero Factory and allow more creativity and storyline expansion than before... or they could introduce a complex, closed-minded canon that discourages any of that and really screw everything up.

Looking at the picture (which will not be posted on this website), the new sets (if they are real) seem to be using the current building system, a.k.a. CCBS (Character & Creature Building System) or "Hero Factory parts." That's right. The new Bionicle sets would use Hero Factory parts. I laugh in the face of every purist and hater right now, and I'll laugh even harder if this whole reboot turns out to be real.

Anyhoo, the use of the CCBS pieces is the only logical choice. Nearly every mold used to create "Bionicle pieces" has been destroyed. The older pieces were proven as useless in 2011, so Hero Factory pieces it is.

And speaking of Hero Factory... Will it get the axe, or will it continue in harmony with Bionicle?

If it gets discontinued, I'm going to be really, really sad. The haters won't be, but who gives a crap about them? Hero Factory encouraged more creativity than Bionicle, by a giant long shot. The theme had so much potential, especially in winter 2011. The idea of creating your own character from scratch was something never before seen in the Bionicle series. Most of our MOCs were made in the Hero Factory realm, and most were made in LDD. LDD's temporary Hero Factory offshoot, Hero Recon Team, was something I thought would never happen in Bionicle, and I thought right. And speaking of Bionicle, it is but a stark contrast to Hero Factory. Defined clearly from page 1. It is what is is. You are CONFINED to whatever they tell you. For example, Lewa can't wear anything other than the Miru- it wasn't written in the canon.

Hero Factory was unfortunately like that for a few waves. In the first wave, Furno's helmet was Furno's helmet. Any character that had that helmet put on it was a form of Furno in some respect. Same for Breakout and Brain Attack. In the 2.0 series, they really took a step in the right direction about creativity, but they didn't take any hints. Savage Planet returned to character-unique features. But if HF continues to run, I'll be happy, especially since they have practically become Exo-Force starting with Invasion from Below.

Hopefully this valiant return of Bionicle will be a reboot, not a continuation, since I would hate to keep seeing a rigid storyline. The BAF (Buildable Action Figure) section really needs to keep themselves in the LEGO spirit, but if these Bionicle sets come with good, generic pieces to create with, then I'm content. You bet we'll find a way to expand on the storyline at StoneHart LEGO, and really, I hope JANGBRiCKS' Zeyek will return to the Bionicle universe and tell more tales. Speaking of which, StoneHart's Bionicle chronicler is eager to start telling stories!

If and or when this change comes, I'm ready. Thanks for reading this rant.
I haven't posted in EONS (thanks, Captain Obvious), and I apologize to the readers for this. I will explain, in the form of a paragraph.

Hero Factory really hasn't sparked that much inspiration in us at StoneHart recently. Invasion From Below and Brain Attack were not very good springboards for ideas. So, yes, we have made a few MOCs in LDD recently, but I haven't posted these just yet. A large handful of these MOCs use IFB pieces and are actually a new version of Hero! Hero Factory aside, though, StoneHart has been working on not 1, not 2, but 3 other projects. Two of these are not related to Hero Factory or LEGO in general, but the third is. The third is a LOOOONG story featuring over 30 new characters, and it may not be posted due to it being loosely based on a real war. Mission: Drones! posts have been redrafted and will be rereleased at some point in the future. Lego and StoneHart aside, our personal lives are very busy. College is nigh for both of us. We have Driver's Ed. We have AP classes (which some of our younger readers will learn about in high school), and both of us are active musicians. In short, that's where we've been.

I try my best to keep this blog up-to-date with MOCs and news. I'm currently posting some interesting LEGO news that may interest you.

More Reloaded MOCs and System MOCs on the way, though. Soon, but soon enough!
The LEGO CEE team has shared with us that the release date of the "Invasion from Below" sets will be January 1st for most of the world and March 1st for the continental U.S. *insert molar grinds*
TLG is aware that this is not going to fare well with HF fans, and the date is set in stone. Nothing we can do about it. However, I think us HF fans all know that certain stores *ahem TRU ahem* have managed to get the sets out a month or two in advance, so expect the sets out in late January to early February. My prediction is, honestly, that they are pushing the release date farther because TLG wants to focus sales for early 2013 on the LEGO Movie sets without a distraction from HF, and also for HF's sake, to keep TLM from plummeting HF's lackluster sales.

Secondly, I recently placed a Bricklink order. You'll see the video this week.

What the leakers have done (contrary to most opinion) is VERY BAD and this is why you will not see me uploading or linking to the photos.

However, anticipation to see final pictures has gotten to my head, and I saw the prelim pictures yesterday, so I will very casually describe what each set looks like.

Heroes (the "machine" sets, if you will):

There are 5 heroes this wave: Evo (who appears 3 times), Furno (who appears twice), Stormer (also twice), Rocka, and Breez.

ALL of the heroes are minifigures that are actually surprisingly detailed. They look as if they are scaled-down versions of the Breakout series heroes.

All of the mechs are made from HF pieces and come with bugs reminiscent of the Visorak from the 2005 Bionicle playsets (which appear to be made of two pieces and come in red, orange, and green).

Rocka's Stealth Machine is pretty cool, we're getting more Breakout Thornax launchers, what appears to be Tr. Bright Orange (or, to a layman, transparent gold) armor, and more Tr. Bright Green SP claws. His mech has a large Tr. Bright Green backpack, too and comes with one bug minion (hey, as a matter of fact, that might be a storage compartment for the little bugs).

Stormer's Freeze Machine is in the same vein as Rocka's, with a transparent backpack (this time in Tr. Light Blue), more Brain Attack flame pieces, and a unique armor piece! That's right, they're back... Oh, and the Stormer XL feet make a return! There are two bugs in this set: one red, one orange.

Furno's Jet Machine looks if you "Hero Factory-ified" the Exo-Force set River Dragon. The mech has his original flame weapons and two turbines that shoot Brain Attack flame pieces. He comes with a green bug.

Evo Walker is interesting, to say the least. It's Evo piloting a walker mech (four-legged, centered around a turret) with what appears to be a Brain Attack visor piece used as a cockpit windshield. We're getting a new size of yellow cladding: 5M! The disadvantage here is that there are no "walker feet", but the legs end in a bone element (if you're catching my drift). UNFINISHED LOOKING! There's three bugs in this one: red, orange, and green.

The Evo XL Machine is even worse. Very bony, using the Fire Lord technique to build up the legs, and the legs don't even have ankle articulation! Molar grinds of disappointment. However, what appears to be gunmetal Stormer XL mech feet and a gunmetal Savage Planet fist make their debut! There are two bug minions: one red, one orange.

Villains (the "xxx vs. ____ Beast" sets)

All of the villains resemble sharks, to me at least. They're pretty cool, too.

Jaw Beast is definitely the best small set we've had. He's got some new foot piece that looks like it came out of Ben 10, a new fin piece, barb pieces in Medium Lilac, and a huge underbite. Hey, and also... MORE MEDIUM AZURE!!! He has it in a 3 length bone size as well! Stormer appears to have a shield and a double-barreled pistol.

Flyer Beast ALSO has medium azure and the new foot piece seen in Jaw Beast. Unfortunately, he's got Ben 10 tails used as wings again... but on the bright side, he's aesthetically cool. He looks like he's holding some sort of tower and brandishing it as a weapon. Breez is riding on his back and is carrying some sort of chain.

Splitter Beast is AWESOME! He's got giant claws, two heads (which appear to have movable jaws, same with the rest of the Beasts), and EVEN MORE AZURE. He definitely looks like he's gonna be this wave's posterboy, and he looks like he's holding either a streetlamp or a scythe. Evo and Furno (who holds a fire sword) are holding a chain and appear to be trying to trip Splitter. What's that gonna do, honestly? He'll just get right back up!

That's it for the winter 2014 sets!

The final pictures have not yet been seen, but when they do, you'll see them here!

Read more to see what's happening...

Here's a general idea of what's going on:

The theme is "Invasion from Below."

Heroes are minifig-scale and are in mechs made of HF pieces.

All sets feature "four-legged bug minions."

All of the mechs are humanoid- except for Evo's, whose mech is a four-legged turret.

The mechs have large, translucent backpacks (except for Furno's) and have the Breakout Meteor Blasters (except for Stormer, who has an ice sword).

The villains are still in the normal size, though, so don't worry.

Speaking of villains...

Flyer Beast is a primarily black and yellow character with a bit of trans-yellow mixed in.

Jaw Beast is mainly purple with bits of medium azure sprinkled in.

Splitter Beast is red and black and, from what the user said, appears to have two heads.

The villain sets are a villain plus a minifig hero.

That's all we know so far, so stay tuned for pics!

In fact, this is the most recent one we've made.

The inspiration from this version of Stringer is taken from the original and Breakout versions of Stringer, as well as JANGBRiCKS' "Stringer v.4" MOC. Stringer's weapon is very unique, and what I believe to be this MOC's defining characteristic. It's a weapon simply known as "The Axe." See if you can guess why.

More Reloads to come soon!
Remember the Christmas video I sent out a while back? Yep. There was a MOC called "Rangifer Reloaded." Well, Rangifer Reloaded is actually part of a series of HF figures in the Reloaded series.

Reloaded series Heroes have no backstory, really, they're figures just for the sake of making figures. All a Reloaded Hero is is an original series Hero body and head, but with limbs made from the new building system. Our MOC Phantom Y-001 from the Breakout series also featured this building style.

That's it, pretty much. Our first Reloaded Heroes will be revealed soon!
