An update: Looking towards the future

This is the first post in nearly a year, and continues in the long line of those posted a long time after the previous. I'd like to use this post to address you, the readers, and tell you exactly how I see the future of this blog as it stands.

As many of you know, BIONICLE has been canceled for the second time, an action I foresaw LEGO taking. The only extant CCBS sets are the Star Wars: Rogue One Ultrabuilds, which are a far cry from the level of inspiration we saw in 2011 with the release of Ordeal of Fire.

As two college students, we at StoneHart LEGO have had little time to create or post new MOCs, and the second generation of BIONICLE provided little inspiration. In our spare time, we have created some new characters, but otherwise nothing new has emerged from our imaginations.

As mentioned before, we at StoneHart are college students with busy schedules which lend little to no time to devote to LEGO creations, let alone to post on this blog. This explains why you've seen no activity for nearly a year. With this in mind, I expect the activity level you've seen in recent years (yes, years) to remain largely the same: little to no posting.

That aside, I expect that we will eventually create some more characters and storylines that we've been willing to post. Whenever that happens, you'll be seeing it here at StoneHart LEGO.

LEGO Bionicle MOC: Takanuva, Master of Light

Another quick "storyline expansion" model, this time, it's a MOC of what a possible Toa Takanuva could look like in the 2015 Bionicle canon.
Yes, I know he doesn't have an Avohkii on, but I worked with what I could. Lewa's new mask looks nothing like the 2001 Miru, now does it?

He carries two light polearms and has a gearbox function on his back that is different from the one I used on my Tahu mock-up.

P.S. Credit for the gearbox design goes to Eurobricks user Leewan.

LEGO Bionicle MOCs: Protector of Plasma & Protector of Light

Just two "extended storyline" Bionicle MOCs I whipped up using existing parts: a Protector of Plasma and a Protector of Light, based on the Protector of Ice mock-up I made a while back.
It's unknown whether or not the elements of Plasma or Light will exist in the Bionicle canon starting in 2015, but these were just two quick storyline expansions.

LEGO Bionicle MOC: Tahu, Master of Fire (preliminary photo edition)

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
This MOC was put together in no more than five minutes in LDD and is a "best effort" representation of the figure based on the August 2014 preliminary photo leaks. It uses existing parts from before 2015, and is not intended to be an exact replica in any way, shape, or form. Thank you.

Another Bionicle 2015 MOC, and probably my last mock-up (or should I say, MOC-up) of a 2015 set. This one is of set 70787 Tahu, Master of Fire.

The 2015 Toa have what appear to be gear functions on their back, so I incorporated a simple gearbox into his design (modified from a design by Eurobricks user "The Kumquat Alchemist").

LDD did not have any pieces sufficient for building his lavaboard, so I abstained from using the lavaboard.

Unfortunately, this is my last 2015 Bionicle MOC, but there will be more Bionicle MOCs in general in the future.

Just a quick MOC of 70782 Protector of Ice that I built just to experiment and say "what if."

Big news involving MOCs!

As you may know, the part of LEGO's DesignByMe service where you get to buy your creations ends today, January 16. But luckily, I've managed to buy a few characters from Mission: Drones! and other stories. But I will still be making the Mission: Drones characters with real parts after today. How, you ask? With Pick-A-Brick, of course! I bought two characters that have yet to be shown on Mission: Drones PLUS Mission Manager Martinus Zibelia! Pictures will be uploaded as soon as my shipment comes.

Also, the StoneHart MOCs team experimented with parts lately, and one of the results will be shown soon!

And finally, I have SCORED Breez and Thornraxx from an eBay seller from the UK. Reviews will be up soon! I still haven't uploaded Ultrabuild reviews and Breakout set reviews! But they'll be coming soon!

What's coming in 2012!

Hello, Hero Factory fans, and Happy New Year! I'm sorry that this is a day late, I had to spend time with family yesterday for our annual New Year's celebration. But anyhoo,  I'm going to give a sneak peek as to what's coming in 2012!

  • More MOCs, of course!
  • A new storyline involving some Breakout MOCs
  • The storyline of Mission: Drones! will keep unfolding until it reaches the end of the story.
  • Hero Factory reviews on Breez, Furno, and Thornraxx. (I can't believe they're not out yet!)
  • Old MOCs that I haven't revealed yet will be... revealed LOL!
And much more!

The first MOCs will be uploaded today, but they aren't Breakout MOCs. In fact, they're the old MOCs I've told you about. I'll also be uploading a video trailer for the Breakout MOCs soon!

Welcome, Hero Factory fans!

Hello! Thank you for stopping by StoneHart Hero Factory- Just The MOCs! Mission: Drones! was my first venture into publishing Hero Factory MOCs I have made in LDD (Lego Digital Designer), a story of the battle of the 'bots! Although those MOCs were made in LDD, I also make MOCs in real life using Bionicle and Hero Factory parts. I haven't yet created a blog for my Bionicle MOCs, but I will in the future.

Let me tell you about how I got into Bionicle and Hero Factory.

In 2005, I got my first Lego BIONICLE set, #4878 Rahaga Bomonga. I really liked the fantastical robot look of these sets, and eventually collecting got addictive. Even after the Bionicle Stars,  I still was collecting Lego, except in the form of HERO FACTORY.

And that's where my MOCs come in.

I have a collection of over 30 remaining BIONICLE sets (because most of them are MOCs now), and every single Hero Factory set.
At the time of this writing, I have over 120 Bionicle and Hero Factory MOCs ranging in height from about 2 inches to about 20 inches.  Some of these builds are my own personal takes on official characters, but most were completely made-up, so I devised my own storylines to avoid conflict with the real ones.

The first wave of MOCs is going to be posted soon, so stay tuned to the blog!
